So you know that dogs can eat bananas but, “Can dogs eat chicken?” I bet you love chicken, fried chicken, baked chicken or even chicken wings! If you don’t remember, dogs are carnivores. If you don’t know what that means; it means they eat meat. Although they are carnivores, they can also eat fruit and veggies although they aren’t the food of choice for most dogs. If you simply take a look inside a dog’s mouth, you will be able to tell by their razor sharp teeth that they were just made for chopping up meat.

Alright, now that you know dogs are carnivores, let’s move on to the real question. Can dogs eat chicken? Of course they can! Chicken is a great food for dogs. Chicken preparation for dogs is a huge question. People often ask me, “how should I prepare chicken for my dog?” A great way to prepare chicken for your dog is to boil it for 20-30 minutes. When you are done boiling the chicken, use a fork to check and make sure there’s no pink left. It is always much much better to overcook something than to undercook it as you don’t want any living bacteria to infect your pet, or yourself for that matter.

There are other ways to make chicken as well, such as frying it but let me tell you why boiling it is best. Like you and me, dogs are prone to getting sick as well. When your dog is sick, don’t panic and stay calm. You must be wondering: My dog is sick! What can I do? According to many vets, giving your dog boiled chicken and rice is a great way to nurse them back to health when they are sick.

Now that you know that dogs can eat chicken, why don’t you go ahead and prepare a nice treat for your doggie whether it can be chicken, or something else. Just in case you’re still not sure if dogs can eat chicken, head over to your local supermarket because more than likely they will have dogfood. Check on the cans/packages and you will see that more often than not, chicken is in the ingredients! I bet you didn’t think it was as simple as a trip to the supermarket to find some chicken for dogs. Happy feeding!
